Grand Canyon
Nobody should visit this part of the world without peering over the edge. What an awe-inspiring thing it is to walk across flat land and then of a sudden find yourself at the abyss. The canyon is huge, and the vistas available from the Southern Rim are truly incredible. One approaches the national park and finds many miles of trails along the edge of the canyon. Lots of toursists too, and from all over the world. As for our experience, we had chosen to stay for the night just south and outside the park, so had only one afternoon and a short walk to appreciate the views before one of our van problems focused attention.
