Can or ought one to move during retirement?

By sciman - Posted on 29 June 2008

There are so many things that determine why one lives where they do. Of major importance, of course, is getting back and forth to work. When one isn't working, or is working less, choices open up. Until recently (2008), one could think about selling real estate and moving into something more suited to one's lifestyle. We wonder if such days will return!

I recently read some Internet posts from expats at Ajijic and wannabe expats in the US who can't move since property isn't selling. What sad stories with people's houses on the market for years. Here they are, sometimes, with bags packed, and yet their dreams are definitely on hold. Perhaps one day though, prices will get to a point where younger people can afford to buy. But then that'll depend on whether or not we've got any banks still in business;-)
